About Acute Med

This website is written and maintained by a group of UK-based senior physicians, surgeons, nurses, a pharmacist and a psychiatrist. All work on a daily basis in acute care - in acute or general medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry or general and neurosurgery. They are assisted by a group of junior doctors and senior medical students. It was launched on 13th February, 2009 at Warwick Hospital, UK. It is non-profit making. It has benefited from an educational grant from Sanofi-Aventis, for which we are very grateful

We do not claim to provide only evidence based information, or be (yet another) set of guidelines. And we do not like algorithms. We do aim to give simple information that is of practical use to health professionals (mainly FY1/2s) at the coalface, with an ill patient in front of them; ie, 'what you actually do'

We would welcome your feedback and ideas. The information on this website is the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief, and authors, and not the institutions where the authors work or study
